Zac Whyte

About Zac Whyte

If it’s passion, connection and first-hand knowledge you enjoy in presentations, then Zac Whyte is the perfect educator to address your students or community group about waste reduction, water efficiency and community building.

Zac Whyte is a global studies educator and photo/video journalist specializing in social and economic development around the world.

Zac is an honours graduate of British Columbia Institute of Technology's Television and Media Broadcast Communications program and valedictorian of BCIT's School of Business. He also has a Liberal Studies Degree with distinction from Vancouver Island University and spends most of his time working with all age groups in his community.

Issues of globalization, consumerism and water are at the forefront of Zac Whyte’s life experience. He has travelled the world, lived in Northern Europe, conducted research in Uganda’s Rwenzori Mountains, built school houses in Kenya, visited fresh water sanitation projects in Ecuador, and explored the depths of Garbage City in Cairo.

As a contract educator for Comox Strathcona Waste Management, a function of the Comox Valley Regional District, Zac has presented to over 30,000 people. He has supported or initiated dozens of successful environmental and community building projects in schools on central Vancouver Island. Zac is very accessible and supports people of all ages, in their pursuit to understand their world community better, through his extensive Facebook and email network. There aren’t many presenters in the world that offer that kind of support – but Zac does and he lives right here in central Vancouver Island.

Zac Whyte presents to youth between grades 7-12, college students and community groups. We encourage teachers to invite Zac in for a one week environmental Social Studies 11 unit or a customized presentation that fits your unit focus or overarching questions. As long as his educational focus can revolve around solid waste reduction or issues of fresh water, Zac’s presentations can be customized to your specific prescribed learning outcomes.
