Comox Strathcona Waste Management (CSWM) would like to extend its sincerest thanks to the many businesses and individuals who volunteered their time, expertise and equipment to help clean-up 37 tonnes (roughly the weight of 21 cars) of illegally dumped material on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at a site in Campbell River. The clean-up was able to divert wood waste and metal, in addition to clearing out garbage.
“These organizations and businesses don’t have to do this, yet they don’t hesitate to jump at requests for assistance and have been an integral part of ensuring this material is removed from environment,” said Stephanie Valdal, Services Coordinator for CSWM, “Unfortunately, illegal dumping is something we contend with on a regular basis. Clean-ups, like this one, help divert recyclables and dispose of waste in responsible ways.”
Thank you to the following businesses for donating the use of equipment and time to help make this a success.
- ABC Recycling Campbell River: 40-yard bin.
- Four Wheel Drive Association of BC & CRMX: skid steer, diesel, truck & quads.
- Hello Rentals: dump trailer.
- Jagged Mountain Excavation: excavator, dump truck and diesel.
- Pacific Wood Waste Inc: 40-yard bin and transportation.
- Pilon Tool Rentals: excavator and buckets.

- Twin Cedars Automotive Solutions: flat deck truck and trailer.
