Knowing what is allowed in your bin and what fees and charges could apply, will help you to make more informed decisions about how you dispose of your waste.

Renting a Bin for Construction/Renovations

When you rent a bin for construction or a home renovation, it’s important to keep in mind what is allowed in the bin and what should be recycled or disposed of separately. A lot of recycling is free, so that will save customers money, particularly since mixing in some of these items can result in fees that more than double the rate per tonne if 10% or more of the load contains the following items:

Loads containing prohibited items or loads containing more than 10 per cent recyclables will be charged at the rates below plus all costs associated with any special handling. In the event that the scales provided are not operational, weight shall be estimated by the scale staff employed or contracted by the regional district. Recycling facilities are provided for selected commodities, which may be accepted free of charge when placed in the containers provided. Improperly covered loads are subject to a $20 fine.
